This is the home of the Carter County MOGenWeb Project, which is part of the MOGenWeb and USGenWeb projects. This is not an official site for any county agency, or genealogical or historical society.
Your County Coordinator is Denise Woodside. I am a volunteer. I maintain the website and manage submissions from other researchers -- like you. Many thanks to Julie Huggins and Daisy Andersen who maintained the Carter County MOGenWeb site many years.

Carter County, located in the Ozarks region of southeast Missouri, was officially organized on March 10, 1859, from Oregon, Reynolds, Ripley and Shannon counties. It was named after Zimri A. Carter, a pioneer settler who came to Missouri from South Carolina in 1812.
